Salini: Webuild next to institutions for urban regeneration and to improve the life quality in cities
In milan, over 500 new trees donated for Parco Forlanini and new green areas built in stations of the M4 Metro Line
Milan, May 7, 2025 – "We are proud to contribute to making Milan an evermore sustainable city, with initiatives that support the Municipality and citizens, just like 'Milano per gli alberi' initiative" said Webuild CEO Pietro Salini. “Thanks to this collaboration over 500 new trees were planted in Parco Forlanini, contributing to preserving Milan's green heritage. The project is part of a larger commitment that we have for the city. Webuild, during the years, built all the five metro lines in Milan, from the Red Line in 1964 to the Blue Line in 2024: infrastructure projects that changed the city's landscape, joining the city centre to the suburbs".
"The M4 – continued Salini – is a work of great value, not just from an engineering perspective, but also in sustainability terms, and with regard to the enhancement of the historical and artistic heritage, and urban re-qualification. By building the M4, we demonstrated that highly complex works can also be delivered in an instable historical context, like the post-COVID period, thanks to a close collaboration with institutions and clients. This metro for the city of Milan is a success made possible by the long-term vision of different administrations that followed each other in Milan, and by the capacity of the combined work of administrations, constructors and supply chain companies".
"We are particularly proud of seeing along the entire M4 route the green areas that from the centre to the suburbs make this city even more people-friendly, with the requalification of over 246,000 square metres of urban areas, of which over 66,000 square metres destined to public green areas, bike lanes and playgrounds. In Milan, just like the other already completed or ongoing metros in Rome, Thessaloniki, Copenhagen and Riyadh, urban regeneration has been the fundamental element to accompany the evolution of these cities and the implementation of the infrastructure-beauty composite", said Salini to conclude.
